When we think of summer, it’s easy to conjure images of sparkling lakeside swimming, tendrils of the BBQ’s hickory smoke wafting through the evening air, and the perfect rum punch appearing in your hand, ice cubes tinkling, umbrella optional.
Summer typically provides us with those moments of drifting elsewhere, our concerns trivialized—especially so as the rum quotient increases.
Now, although Reservoir does not make rum, we know an illustrious rum-maker in the Caribbean and have been fortunate enough to snag a couple of those highly revered barrels.
The rum barrels were freshly dumped of their spirit and immediately shipped to Reservoir’s doorstep where we promptly filled them with a blend of 70% corn, 15% wheat, and 15% rye—spirits of ours that were already aged and matured.
We then tucked away our newly filled rum barrels deep into the warehouse where they’ve been happily sleeping through headlines for the last 12 months.
Once rousing these barrels from slumber, and placing their contents through rigorous tasting panel sessions, we’ve decided that the second edition of Holland’s Blade Rummer has had enough social distancing and it’s time to bring it to light.
Infused with tropical notes of ambrosial vanilla, clove, and rich brown sugar, and the lingering tastes of molasses, caramel, and crème brûlée, it’s easy to see how one can lose oneself in the romance of this Limited Time Offering, and we (like Decker) find ourselves spending more time reflecting upon the nature of our own humanity.
Holland’s Blade Rummer is definitely not a spirit meant to be trivialized and may be your tropical port in a storm as you wait to discover the results of the tests, the trials, and the tallies.

Imagine yourself two years ago.

Bursting with the flavor of ripe red fruits from the barrel’s previous grapes, including Cab Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, our new red wine-finished whiskey still pours out the velvety smooth toffee, tobacco and oak notes imbued within our bourbon.
